Cherry Lodge offers residential care on a temporary or full time basis depending upon the needs of the individual.
Our Registered Manager will assess the needs of each resident on admission to the home and create a care plan to ensure that these needs are met. Each care plan is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure our residents continue to receive the correct high level of care for the duration of their stay with us.
Our care assistants follow stringent medication handling procedures in the home and, depending on an individual’s medical requirements, will administer medication in accordance with the instructions of a resident’s GP. The home has longstanding contacts with the local doctors surgeries and can arrange for a resident to be registered with a GP in the Caterham area.
The home caters for the special dietary requirements of its residents and has a full time chef on its staff to provide varied and nutritious home cooked meals. Our residents are also encouraged to select their meals each day.
The home is managed by Mrs Cherie Calender who has over 20 years experience in the care industry.
Mrs Callender holds a Registered Manager (Adults) Award (NVQ Level 4) and various certificates in first aid and moving and handling. Mrs Callender also holds current certificates in numerous other areas relating to care, including dementia and infection care and control.
Mrs Callender is also registered as a Certified Institute Training Practitioner and runs our sister company, CRA Training Limited. CRA Training Limited provides specialist training for our care assistants, Care Options care providers in addition to the staff of other residential care homes and domiciliary agencies.
All of our care assistants are friendly, approachable and work hard to foster a relaxed and comfortable environment for our residents.
Residential Care for the elderly
All new employees complete a mandatory induction programme and have undergone the Independent Safeguarding Adults (ISA) and Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) at an enhanced level. The home provides continuous training to its staff and is committed to training all of its care assistants to achieve an NVQ in care.
The home has been awarded an Investors in People status due to its commitment to managing and developing its employees.
The home also has three four legged members of staff that visit the home during working hours. Mrs Callender has three friendly dogs, Adam, Molly and Lucy, who commute to work with her and would be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the home’s biscuits.
Cherry Lodge is able to provide care for 19 elderly residents. The home has a variety of single and twin bedrooms, the majority of which have en-suite facilities.
Each room is equipped with an outdoor aerial to offer choice should a resident wish to bring their own television into the Home. There is also the facility to enable private telephone lines to be connected by British Telecom for those wishing to make and receive telephone calls in the privacy of their own rooms.
Each room is fully furnished but we actively encourage its residents to bring their own small personal items to personalise and make their rooms their own.
The home strives to provide its residents with the home comforts they enjoyed in their own homes, as well as access to facilities that resident’s used in their local communities.
The home has two lounge areas and a well-stocked library. The main lounge has two televisions to provide residents with a choice of viewing, whilst the smaller quiet lounge area, which overlooks a pretty garden and patio, can be used by residents to read or listen to light music.
The home has a purpose built facilities room which is used by our visiting hairdresser when residents have booked a hair appointment. A chiropodist also regularly visits the home and we arrange visits by opticians, dentists and physiotherapists when required by residents.
Cherry Lodge also offers a wide range of social activities and encourages its residents to continue their hobbies and leisure interests within the home.
